How To Become British Army From Nepal

Note: Age Limit to be the candidates of the British Gurkha and Singapore Police you need to be 18-21 age. For example, for the 2025 year of recruitment you should be born between 01/12/2004-01/12/2007.

For the medical evaluation, prospective recruits attending Phases 1 (Registration), 2 (Initial Selection), and 3 (Final Selection) should be aware of the following:

• Please bring any medical records you may have had in the last three years so the medical expert can determine whether you are a good fit.
• You risk failing the medical urine test if you engage in any vigorous exercise at least three days prior to Phase 2 (Initial Selection).
• Avoid consuming large amounts of sugar for at least three days before Phase 3 (Final Selection) to avoid failing the medical urine test.
• Avoid loud noises (such as loud music and heavy machinery) for at least three days before Phase 2 (Initial Selection) and Phase 3 (Final Selection) to avoid any impact on your ear examination.
• Avoid putting anything in your ears since you risk damaging them momentarily and not passing the ear exam.

 (Online Registration)

The official website of British Gurkha will be open for online registration at the mid to end of March. Candidates need to register their district, NPP number, given name, and surname (as on their passport). The applicant will not be called forward for Phase 1 (Registration) if they do not register online with the necessary data. 

Phase 1(Registration)

After the successful online registration, the PRs are called forward to attend the stage of Gurkha Recruiting. Phase 1 will be held at British Gurkha Pokhara, British Gurkha Dharan and at Area Welfare Centre Bheri in Surkhet. Following the close registration the call forward list of the Phase 1 (Registration) will be published around first week of the April on the official website (candidates should be up to date in the official site as the date will be released only in the official site).

The successful PRs listed on the call-forward should follow these steps before entering the British Gurkha Office.

1. The successful PRs listed on the call-forward list must arrive at the designated date, time and place indicated.
2. You must bring the original and one-sided A4 photocopies of:

1. NPP(Citizenship)
2. Passport
3. Cast verification (if needed)
4. Certificate of Migration (if important e.g., in cases where the district of application and the district of permanent resident as issued by the NPP disagree) 
5. Parents NPP (Citizenship)
6.  Education certifications (include the Character Certificate, SEE Examination Certificate, and SEE Examination Mark Sheet)
7. Filled-out application form for BA or GCSPF, together with a passport-size photo (the application will not be accepted if the choices made during online registration do not match)
8.  Signed consent declaration and privacy policy – only for applicants wishing to join the British Army.

3. You will be rejected if you do not present the necessary paperwork or a recent, properly filled-out application.
4. You need to pass examinations in Math and English, as well as have to perform 12 over-arm heaves.
5. Following that, you have to clear a basic medical exam test.

Following the selection, you will get a briefing from the Area Recruiting Officer (ARO) about the steps involved in the next phase of Gurkha recruitment, known as Initial Selection or Phase 2.

 Phase 2 (Initial Selection)

The qualified applicants from Phase 1 (Registration) will be invited to British Gurkhas Pokhara for Phase 2 (Initial Selection). Following the end of Phase 1 (Registration), the call forward list and dates for Phase 2 (Initial Selection) will be made available on the official website. The following paperwork must be brought to British Gurkhas Pokhara at the appointed time and date by the candidates selected for Phase 2 (Initial Selection):

1. Your NPP
2. Your Parent’s NPP
3. MRP or Electronic Passport
4. Complete “Medically Fit to Attend Certificate”

Candidates must present both the original and one photocopy of any new documents if their personal circumstances have changed and call for an official documentation update (such as a marriage, divorce, or migration).

You will be rejected if any of the documents mentioned above are not present or if the forms are filled out improperly.

The call forward lists for Phase 2 (Initial Selection) will be published on the first week of July.Phase 2 (Initial Selection) dates will be on first week of September and last till first week of October (Both British Army and Singapore Police),	The following are the Physical Entry Standards (PES) examinations required for recruitment into the Singapore Police Force’s Gurkha contingent and the British Army: Heaves over-arm. 12 minimum (at your best). Run 800 meters. At most, two minutes and thirty seconds. Lift and carry repeatedly (short). At most, one minute and forty-six seconds. Note: Remember to give your best effort in every test to earn the greatest possible result. The higher your score, the more points you will receive, increasing your chances of being called ahead to Phase 3 (Final Selection).	Basic medical examinations will be performed during Phase 2 (Initial Selection), including blood pressure, a long-distance vision test, color perception, and an ear check. This is to guarantee that you are physically healthy and able to go through the Gurkha Selection procedure. Your Body Mass Index (BMI) will be tested, and it must be between 18 and 28. A completed “Medically Fit to Attend” certificate is required. An authorized physician who is registered with the Nepal Medical Council (NMC) must fill this out, sign it, and stamp it. You will not be able to participate in the Gurkha Selection process if it is not signed or stamped with NMC by a medical professional. You need to carefully study this instruction since it is extremely significant.

Phase 3 (Final Selection)

The Phase 3 (Final Selection) at British Gurkhas Pokhara will be attended by the selected applicants from Phase 2 (Initial Selection). Following the conclusion of Phase 2, the call forward list for Phase 3 (Final Selection) will be made available on this website. 

1. Medical

You cannot prepare for the medical exam. However, here are some tips to help you:

1. Avoid listening to loud music or other loud noises right before Phase 3 (Final Selection) since this might interfere with your hearing exam. 
2. Energy drinks and supplements should not be consumed since they may impair your performance. 
3. Declare any medications before arrival to British Gurkhas Pokhara so that we can appropriately care for you throughout selection. 
4. If you are on medication or have just had surgery, bring the necessary medical paperwork. 
5. Coca-Cola, Fanta, Mountain Dew, and Red Bull are all incredibly unhealthy beverages. If you consume sugary beverages on a daily basis, it might have a negative impact on your health. If you have too much sugar in your urine during the pee test, it suggests your kidneys aren’t processing it effectively, and you’ll fail selection. Please just drink water and avoid sugary beverages.

2. Physical Assessments

In keeping with the British Army’s Physical Entry Standards (PES), the following physical exams will be done during Phase 3 (Final Selection): 

1. 2km run: Under 8 minutes and 15 Seconds (best effort) 
2. Jerrycan carry: Under 2 minutes (best effort) 
3. DOKO run: Under 46 minutes (best effort) 
4. Mid-thigh pulls: Pull 76 kilograms (British Army only) 
5. Medicine ball throw: Throw 3.1 meters distance (British Army only)

Remember to give your best effort in every test to earn the greatest possible result. The higher your score, the more points you will receive, increasing your chances of joining the British Army or the Gurkha Contingent Singapore Police Force. 

Note: Candidates for the GCSPF will do a brief team activity to test their attitude, communication skills, and problem-solving abilities. This will not apply to British Army applicants. 

3. Education Assessments

A 30-minute written exam and a 10-minute speaking and listening exam are the two English assessments that take place during Phase 3 (Final Selection). Professional education officials administer the examinations.  Having conversations and listening. Your vocabulary, grammar, response structure, flow, clarity, and knowledge of instructions will all be evaluated throughout your speaking and listening test. One of the education officers will contact each of you separately to arrange a meeting and you have to talk to the education officer in English.

4. Interview (Final)

You’ve done a great job if you make it to the interview. We now want to know your name and the reason for your desire to join the Singapore Police Force’s Gurkha Contingent or the British Army’s Brigade of Gurkhas as a Gurkha soldier. In the event that you succeed, you will be in charge of upholding our excellent record and legacy going forward. Don’t read someone else’s notes or duplicate the response; instead, respond naturally and from memory. Emphasize your dedication to honesty, ethics, and respecting the law. These characteristics are crucial to both the British Gurkha Army and the Singapore Police.
